Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer and Team Lead for new drill products
Employee since: 2004
Describe your daily work responsibilities...
I lead a team of engineers to develop innovative solutions to address the customers' drilling needs. My team and I look for new technology that can be applied to these large pieces of mining equipment with the end goal of extracting more minerals at less cost to the customer while maintaining the highest level of safety to both the people working on and around the machines, as well as to the environment.
What is the best part of being an engineer?
The best part about working as an engineer is the people you get to work side-by-side with to address the customers' strongest needs. I have been part of teams who pull together, pool resources and talent, and develop a solution that can be delivered to meet and exceed the customers' expectations. From the mechanic in the field servicing the large pieces of equipment to the maintenance personnel in the plant keeping the machining cells running smoothly, everyone works toward the same goal of supporting the mining industry by producing world-class machines.
What is the best piece of advice you received on your path to becoming an engineer?
Stay humble - there is always more you can learn and ways that you can grow to become a better engineer.
