On April 9, employees from our Longview, TX facility participated in the city’s spring “Green & Clean” initiative. The event is coordinated by the nonprofit, Keep Longview Beautiful, which works to engage residents in litter prevention, beautification and waste reduction. Starting at our facility and branching out over the span of a few miles, employees picked up trash for two hours. This is the third year Longview area employees have participated in this event which takes place in the spring and fall.

Brenda Hunt, Specialist, Benefits & Wellness shared, “Green and Clean is a community-wide effort conducted twice a year. I am happy to volunteer to pick up litter in the area around our facility so that visitors, potential customers, and employees remember it as being litter free. Our crew always has a laugh at some of the things litterbugs throw out and we pick up!”

When asked why she participated in the event Julie Riner, Project Planner Feeder Breakers added, “I simply participated to serve my community. I normally work in an office all day…it was great being outdoors, performing a much needed service while getting a healthy benefit from the exercise!  Being “World-Class” is more than being flawless within an industry. It’s important to take on a leadership role in giving back to the community”.

Events like the “Green & Clean” initiative are an important part of our efforts to support the local communities in which we operate. This event allows us to take an active role in improving the environment in which we live and work.
