Joy Global Chile took part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Minera Escondida by joining their "A salute with meaning" campaign, driven by the mining company together with the Chilean branch of SOS Children´s Villages and supported by the El Mercurio de Antofagasta newspaper, to celebrate in a different, caring way.

This innovative campaign, which was aimed to all mining companies and suppliers in the region of Antofagasta, in northern Chile, helped raise about 10 million pesos (nearly US$15.000) for the purchase of a van for the SOS Children´s Villages.

On behalf of Joy Global, the van delivery ceremony was attended by Javier Vasquez, Senior Business Manager and Luis Torreblanca, Chief of Personnel Management. Regarding the participation in this initiative, Javier Vasquez said that "It is a pleasure to join this initiative that directly benefits the children; we understand that they are the foundation and future of our country.  With this, Joy Global reaffirms its social commitment and we as employees feel proud and participants of this function."

SOS Children’s Villages is a non-governmental, non-profit organization founded in 1949 in Austria, that works to prevent family breakdown and care for children who have lost parental care, or who risk losing it.
