Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?'"  Each year, Americans across the country answer that question by coming together on the King Holiday to serve their neighbors and communities. This year the Human Resources team in Milwaukee chose to volunteer on this day of service as a group.

On January 18 the team volunteered to support an organization called The Gathering. The organization feeds meals to Milwaukee’s hungry at three locations throughout the city. Our employees volunteer for this organization several times a year at the site located in downtown Milwaukee but this was the first time a group volunteered at the near south side site that is just blocks away from our National Ave facility.

Generally the guests at this location are members of the elderly population in the neighborhood. The temperature outside was 3 degrees which meant a lot of residents chose to stay indoors verses coming out for a meal. The group still ended up feeding nearly 60 residents a warm meal of spaghetti and meat sauce, green beans, applesauce, salad, bread and butter and cupcakes for dessert. Those who came for a meal were gracious and appreciative and the group had a rewarding experience helping neighbors in need.
